Use and Care of a Safety Plan
Once you have developed a safety plan with a client go over the following points:

• Keep the safety plan in a safe place.
• Read it carefully. If your client needs additional help in safety planning have them call the Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-500-1119 or their local domestic violence center.
• Update the safety plan often. As a counselor you should review it every time you see a client.
• Make sure your client shares her plan only with those who can support her and won’t reveal it to her abuser.
