Purpose
The purpose of this module is to describe the important role MOW volunteers can play in the screening, identification, and referral of domestic violence victims in the MOW program. Now that you know what domestic elder abuse is all about, this module will tell you how to spot it, how to talk to a potential victim, and how to assist elders in need.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this training module, participants will be able to:
     1. Identify guiding principles crucial to working with elder victims of domestic violence.
     2. Identify the common signs of elder domestic violence and abuse.
     3. Ask about abuse in an appropriate manner.
     4. Respond appropriately to the disclosure of domestic violence.
     5. Describe questions used to assess lethality.
     6. Form a safety plan with a victim of domestic violence.
     7. Know where to refer the elder for professional assistance.
