Providing Counseling and Education
In cases where domestic violence has been identified, health/nutrition workers can provide informational brochures on domestic violence, hotline numbers, and information on safety planning. Workers are not expected to provide specific counseling to victims on domestic violence. However, there is some basic information about domestic violence that can be conveyed to clients quickly:

• Domestic violence is common.
• Domestic violence is a crime.
• Domestic violence escalates and becomes more serious over time.
• There are services and legal remedies available to assist victims.
