Florida State University offers a practical, research-based professional certification course on trauma-informed policies and resistance, increasingly seen as integral to student success.
Florida State University announced this week that health insurance agency Simply Healthcare Plans is the first organization to complete its new “Trauma Aware” organizational certification program.
The program is the first of its kind in the U.S. and is designed to build a more resilient and trauma-educated workforce. To earn the certification, more than 90 percent of Simply Healthcare’s 1,400 Florida employees completed the new online training, which focuses on the impact of trauma and the promise of resilience.
FSU's Institute for Family Violence Studies (IFVS) has been working with Saving Jane and One Huddle as they create an app on human trafficking prevention. COVID-19 exposed the need for universities to develop trauma-informed interventions to bolster students’ well-being during times of crisis. Florida State University, a public institution with 40,000+ students, had such an intervention immediately available to students that was quickly adapted to fit their needs during the pandemic.
